PLAYMA’s Creepy EP out May 28th

Play Me Records

The ironic Play Me Records EP, out May 28th, by the nearly namesake French-Russian trio PLAYMA. On our debut release on Play Me you will discover the unheard before, harder side of PLAYMA.

The title track, "Creepy," opens with a guitar-driven mystery, but it's not too long before the screamy drop kicks in and the pure madness begins.

If your sound system wasn't destroyed after the opener, get prepared for the purposeful destruction to be brought to you by the second tune. "Destroy," which might be the heaviest PLAYMA track to date, features vocals of Jei Durisotti of Despite Exile, the Italian deathcore band currently making big waves both in Europe and Stateside. This is not a regular dubstep/metal collab to say the least.

The third track on the release is another collaboration, this time with the utterly popular in France drum & bass DJ Elisa do Brasil. "Redemption" is designed to make your body bounce and the sound system completely damaged.

Watch out for PLAY067 in digital stores worldwide on May 28th!

How to make Drum & Bass and Dubstep drums: Kick

Another video tutorial

You can easily identify a track from a rookie musician. They don’t have that punch to their drums. The kick and snare are too soft in the overall mix, and they are almost inaudible. When i started to produce, i was looking for a long time for the secret to "making fat drums".

Today I will tell you the way to make punchy kick. We'll look at how to layer the kick drum and then how to process it with compressor and EQ.

If you want to experiment with the project i showed in the video, you can download it from here:

9 Steps From Idea To Beatport Top 10

Video Tutorial

Every musician eventually develops their own style; we call it their "sound". Sound in this context is a set of methods and techniques that contribute to a certain definitive musical style. Today I want to talk about the steps I used to produce a track from beginning to end. I will use perhaps my most unusual track, India Sleeping.

This track was released on the UK label "Standard Audio" in 2010 and in less than 2 weeks reached the Beatport dubstep TOP10. In most of my productions I usually prefer to make a fat bassline and very loud and punchy drums. India Sleeping is the antithesis of my favourite way to make music. Here I used a cello for the bass line with a bold sub bass made of a single sine wave. But let’s start at the beginning.

Want to peek inside the project yourself? In a rare move for a musician, I give you the opportunity to get access to each instrument and the mastering of the track. This means that you can get a fully mastered, label-released best-seller, to experiment with and use for any educational and non-commercial purpose.
